GE FANUC B2 CONTROL SYSTEM UPGRADE

Customer:                  ČEZ Inc.
Site:                            Power Plant Počerady

Project description
This job was done at Unit 2 of the Počerady fossil fuel fired power plant. The job consisted in upgrading the 200 MW unit's control system. The unit was shut down 11 March 2011 and trial operation was started 1 July 2011. The work was handed over completely 29 July 2011.
Work on the part of the ASŘTP (automated control system for the technological processes) took 3 months only. Subsequently, the unit was restarted.
Initially, Unit 2 was controlled by a GE Fanuc Series 90-30 control system with 48 single controllers based on the functional specification of the technological units. The new concept, currently preferred by ČEZ, is based on 4 more powerful redundant GE Fanuc PAC Systems Rx3i controllers with memory mirroring.
In the original setup of the controllers, the CPU was replaced with an NIU unit so that they should be usable as remote IO controllers. Communication between the controllers and the remote IO's is provided through Ethernet buses.
The control algorithms from the original controllers (SW-Logicmaster) were re-programmed to new Cimplicity ME SW for Rx3i controllers. This compelled upgrade of the unit's entire SCADA Cimplicity HMI system and modification of the application software of the servers and operator stations.
New optical lines for the Ethernet communication buses were built to make possible transition to the control system's new configuration.
The work also encompassed transition of some local control rooms, which used different SCADA systems, to the SCADA Cimplicity HMI GE Fanuc platform.
