22MW STANDBY ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

Customer:  Tenza Inc.
Site:           Plzeňská energetika Inc.

Description:
Plzeňská energetika is the major utility in the Plzeň region, supplying electricity and covering the demand also during the peak demand hours. Among the feasible efficient and, in particular, rapid solutions are gensets (see photo). This solution was selected by Plzeňská energetika, owing to which some of the existing facilities, such as the light heating oil system, could be utilized. The new gensets, including the new building (see photo), have been integrated into the Plzeňská energetika system.

The gensets themselves (3 x DA Wärtsilä 18V32LN, 19.6 MWe in total) were supplied by the manufacturer, i.e. the Finnish company Wärtsilä, the building part was Tenza's responsibility, and the complete electrical part, including the onsite wiring and power evacuation to the existing network, was ZPA Industry's job.

Scope of supplies and work under the management of ZPA Industry Inc.:

·          Design, supply and installation of lighting at the new buildings (inverter, compensation, outdoor lighting, emergency lighting, standby lighting supplied directly from the genset, automatic standby, distribution boards, ...)
·          Design, supply and installation of field instrumentation
·          Design, supply and installation of the system for power evacuation to the existing 22kV grid – 22kV cable line approx. 500m long.
·          Design, supply and building of a new 22kV vault for power evacuation, including the connection of new hold elements (against HDO signal damping from the DA side)
·          Power cabling between all parts, including step-up transformers and the gensets themselves.

Outcome:

Currently, the new gensets are capable of supplying power within 15 minutes after receiving a command from ČEPS.
